General veterinary practitioner at Shaker Veterinary Hospital since June of 2007, Dr. Matt Brunke grew up in Bellerose NY. Dr. Brunke obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from Cornell University and attended Ross University where he earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in January of 2004. A member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New York State Veterinary Medical Society, Dr. Brunke has professional interests in surgery (particularly orthopedic surgery), neurology, and oncology. He is also pursuing advanced training in abdominal and thoracic ultrasound.

Aside from his medical interests, Dr. Brunke has numerous hobbies and past-times. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoys camping, hiking, cruising in his classic car and being an Eagle Scout. More than anything else, he particularly enjoys the time he gets to spend with his two dogs, Rocky (a hound mix) and Skeeter (a Caribbean mutt), and his three cats Kipling, Logan and Milo.
