AAHA
Professional Pet Grooming

Our professional groomers take pride in the personal attention that they give your pet from start to finish. At Shaker Veterinary Hospital, P.C., we can provide individualized grooming services to meet your pet's needs.

What is Grooming?

The full service grooming process begins with a preliminary haircut to remove unwanted hair and mats. We pay very close attention to your pets skin so that we can determine the type of shampoo that should be used and whether a conditioner might also be needed. Your pet will enjoy a relaxing and thorough shampoo, the nails will be trimmed and ears cleaned. After your pet is professionally dried, our Groomers finish with the final trim and style. Bandanas, bows and colognes are used as the finishing touch to your pet’s professional grooming style.

How often should my pet be groomed?

To promote a healthy coat and skin, our Groomers recommend regularly scheduled grooming appointments, which is based upon your pet’s individual needs. On average most pets are groomed every 4 to 8 weeks. In between full grooming appointments we are available for partial grooming to keep your pet looking good and feeling comfortable.

What services are available?

We have a wide range of grooming services available for young and senior pets alike. Introducing your pet to grooming at an early age, about 8 weeks old, should pave the way for an enjoyable grooming experience as time goes on. For senior pets and pets with medical conditions, our Groomers have experience in recognizing your pet’s special needs and they will provide individualized care as needed.

Is there a treatment to help prevent shedding?

The Furminator® Shed-Less Treatment is a special de-shedding treatment that dramatically reduces the mess and cleanup of unwanted hair. The treatment is designed to reduce shedding where it begins in the undercoat of your pet. This treatment is beneficial for both dogs and cats, whether they are long or short haired.

The process starts with a full groom. The all natural FURminator deShedding solution is then applied to loosen the undercoat and loose hair. A high velocity dryer is then utilized to eliminate the excess coat and loose hair on the pet. Your pet is then brushed and combed thoroughly. The FURminator deShedding tool is then used to extract the loose hair and undercoat.

You can expect the treatment to reduce the shedding of your pet for about three to four weeks. You may experience some shedding over the first 12-24 hours after you take your pet home. For best results, you’re the treatment should be repeated every four to six weeks.

Our Groomers always put your pet’s comfort and health first. During your pet’s grooming appointment if our Groomer should notice anything abnormal that may require medical attention, your pet can be treated by our Veterinarian the same day. It is important to leave a phone number where you can be reached so that we can keep in touch with you while your pet is with us. For the safety of your pet and others, we require that your pet’s rabies, distemper and bordatella vaccines are current.
